Jim Thomeczek Honored with Distinguished Service Award by MO-CASE

We are thrilled to announce that Jim Thomeczek has been honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the Missouri Council of Administrators of Special Education (MO-CASE). This is the highest recognition MO-CASE offers, given to individuals whose outstanding and long-lasting contributions have significantly advanced the field of special education. This award is not presented annually, underscoring the exceptional nature of Jim’s achievements.

Jim has been a steadfast advocate and leader in special education for over 46 years. His career began as an educator in the Pattonville School District, teaching English at the high school and middle school levels. Later, he transitioned into law, earning his degree from St. Louis University School of Law, graduating cum laude. Since then, Jim has become a nationally recognized authority on special education law, representing school districts in key cases, including arguments before the Missouri Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Jim is also known for his extensive involvement in professional organizations, such as the Missouri Council of School Attorneys and the Missouri Council of Administrators of Special Education. His expertise has been a cornerstone for shaping special education policies and practices, not just in Missouri but at a national level.
