Areas of Practice:

Jennifer C. Hansen focuses her practice on education law and labor and employment matters. She advises clients on the day-to-day legal and operational issues involved in running school districts, including human resources and personnel matters, compliance with state and federal law, union relations and negotiations, and a wide range of employee life-cycle events such as hiring, onboarding, professional development, discipline, and succession planning. Jennifer works closely with school leadership to provide practical, timely guidance tailored to each district’s needs.

Prior to joining Mickes O’Toole, Jennifer served as the chief human resources officer for two large school districts in the St. Louis area, where she gained firsthand experience addressing complex workforce and compliance challenges in educational settings. She admires the student-focused, servant-leadership approach prevalent among school personnel and is committed to providing consistent, thoughtful counsel that supports both educators and the students they serve.

Before transitioning to education law, Jennifer practiced as a litigator at a large St. Louis firm and later spent six years as a solo practitioner, where she represented small and medium-sized businesses across a variety of legal matters. This diverse background informs her practical and collaborative approach to advising clients.
